Nightwood Theatre's 2024 Lawyer Show: The Sound of Music

Nightwood Theatre invites you to the 2024 Lawyer Show, The Sound of Music, one of the most beloved musicals of all time, at the Jane Mallett Theatre in The St. Lawrence Centre for Centre for the Arts.

For over a decade, Nightwood Theatres annual fundraiser, the Lawyer Show, has hosted hundreds of legal professionals as they venture on stage in support of local Toronto artists. Every year up to 40 members of the legal community rehearse for three months to stage an exhilarating, entertaining production, led by a team of professional directors, designers and vocal coaches. Cast members benefit from invaluable networking opportunities, all while putting on a truly spectacular show and supporting Canadas flagship feminist theatre company.

Since the Lawyer Shows inception in 2010, over 300 legal professionals have appeared in 14 shows to raise more than $1,145,000 in support of Nightwood.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the worlds most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including Climb Evry Mountain, My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Sixteen Going on Seventeen and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.
